MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to promote polymer clay as an art form and to share our knowledge and ideas with others who love working with polymer clay. Our main goal is to use our artistic abilities to create unique and interesting pieces and share our techniques and methods with other guild members and the community through formal and informal demonstrations. We do this in a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment.
ABOUT THE GUILD:
The Polymer Clay Guild of Minnesota is a fun, relaxed group of polymer clay artists, crafts people and creative explorers. We are a relatively new group, just starting out with lots of fun ideas. We've done ornament exchanges, a paté knife exchange, and we had our first group show in Winter 2003. In Summer 2004 we presented an exhibit called "Poly Purses, Oooh La La," a wonderful display of purses, with future exhibits in the works. Following that exhibit, we also showcased our work which included purses, clocks, and Bottles of Hope, in an exhibit at the Owatonna Art Center.
WHEN AND WHERE WE MEET:
We meet the second Tuesday of every month at the MN Textile Center in Minneapolis. Members range in skill level from beginners just starting out to experts with 20+ years of experience along with published members. Anyone is welcome to join. Guests may attend their first meeting for free, after which they are encouraged to join. Membership fee is $25 per calendar year.
AT EACH MEETING:
We start with a short discussion of guild business. Then, we learn a new technique, idea or skill from another member during the "15 Minutes of Fame" demonstrations. Lastly, we share our latest creations and discuss ideas and new resources regarding the exciting possibilities of polymer clay.
PLAY WITH CLAY DAY'S:
The last alternating Friday or Saturday of every month we also have ‘Play with Clay day's’. Members can bring their clay and play and experiment all day or come for a few hours of fun. We usually try a new technique either taught by a member or figured out from a website or book. We have a lot of fun and this is a great way to learn hands on.
